Course Overview – General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)
The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) program is a comprehensive three-year diploma course designed to equip students with essential skills in nursing, general healthcare, and midwifery. Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the GNM program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of 10+2 (Pre-University) or an equivalent qualification, with English as an optional subject. (Preference is given to candidates from a science background.)
- A minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.
- The age requirement for admission is between 17 to 35 years.
This structured program provides a strong foundation for aspiring nursing professionals, ensuring they are well-prepared to serve in hospitals, clinics, and community healthcare settings.
Course Overview – B.Sc. Nursing
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) is a four-year undergraduate program divided into eight semesters, designed to provide in-depth theoretical and practical training in nursing. The course aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and community health services.
Candidates who have successfully completed their 10+2 examinations from a recognized board, with a Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects), are eligible to apply for this program.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission to the B.Sc. Nursing program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Must have passed 10+2 (Pre-University) or an equivalent qualification, recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the main science subjects.
- A minimum aggregate of 45% marks in the above subjects is required for general category students. However, for reserved categories (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe), the minimum aggregate required is 40%.
- The candidate must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the admission year.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is mandatory.
- A physical fitness certificate must be submitted at the time of admission. Additionally, upon admission, a health check-up and physical examination will be conducted at Jayashree Multi-Specialty Hospital.

Students from the science stream can pursue this course immediately after completing Class 12. - Must have passed II PUC (12th grade) with Science subjects – PCB, PCMB, or CBZ (Course duration: 2 years + 6 months internship).
- Candidates who have passed II PUC in non-science subjects or SSLC/10th grade can also apply (Course duration: 3 years + 6 months internship).
- Preference will be given to candidates trained in English typing or basic computer knowledge.
- The minimum age for admission is 15 years as of 31st December of the admission year, and the upper age limit is 35 years. However, for in-service candidates and SC/ST applicants, the upper age limit is 40 years.
- Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
